From logistics floors and forklift driving at IKEA to accessibility-focused product design and frontend development, she’s built an unconventional path into tech and she’s only getting started!
Passionate about digital accessibility, community, and creating space for more young women and non-binary people in STEM, she combines curiosity with a fearless willingness to try new things.
Today, alongside her internship at SBAB, she’s also stepping into a board role at Young Data Tjej, helping inspire the next generation in tech.
What do you do as a Woman in Tech?
Right now I’m on an exciting path forward. At the moment I’m interning at SBAB as a Product Designer and Frontend Developer, where I’ve been working on improving the experience for business and housing association customers (BRF). Part of that work has included digital accessibility checks, which is something I think is really important.
Before tech I spent years in logistics at IKEA, then took a detour into law and even started an internship at a Swedish administrative court (Kammarrätten). Luckily I changed my mind: being a woman in tech suits me better than being a woman in legal.
I genuinely care about the place of young women and girls in tech and STEM, and I’ll soon take on a board position in an organization focused on exactly that.
What does the Women in Tech community mean to you?
WIT is a huge source of inspiration for me. Seeing women take up space and succeed gives me the feeling of: “If you can do it, so can I”, and it’s done a lot for my confidence. I also love that the community crosses generations. I like surrounding myself with people at different stages of life and career.
If you could give one piece of advice to an aspiring woman in tech, what would that be?
I say to myself every day “good enough is perfect, honey” and I think there are many women who need to remind themselves of that.
Surround yourself with people who think differently than you, people who challenge you. I say this to myself too, it’s easy to seek comfort, but dare to stand in the unknown and trust your own instincts.
Fun fact: Do you have any pets or hobbies? Tell us about them!
Right now I’m training for my first Hyrox race. I’ve been strength training since I was 14, weightlifting, running, CrossFit and whatever else comes my way. A few weeks ago I tried rugby training for the first time, which was really fun.
I’m also a certified forklift driver from my years at IKEA. Stacking pallets high up in the racking or unloading trucks is something I can do in my sleep. Rumor has it I was the best forklift driver at the last IKEA store I worked at.
