WIT join forces with Nordic Women in Tech Awards

At Women in Tech Sweden, we’ve always believed that recognition is a powerful force. It not only celebrates achievement—it inspires the next generation. That’s why we’re incredibly proud to announce that, for the first time, we are teaming up with the Nordic Women in Tech Awards (NWiTA)—and joining the Board and taking part in this years’ local jury committee.

This collaboration is more than symbolic. It’s a shared commitment across the Nordics to spotlight women who are driving meaningful change in tech—and to build a more inclusive future together.

NWiTA was established in 2019, to showcase the outstanding role models in the Nordic region and inspire the next generation of diverse tech workforce. Having Women in Tech Sweden joining the NWiTA Board has been the missing piece of NWiTA becoming a truly Nordic organization.

We are honored to have them on Board and looking forward to making an even bigger impact for women in tech in the Nordics, together.”
Plamena Cherneva, Founder & CEO, Nordic Women in Tech Awards

Why this matters

The tech industry moves fast. But progress toward gender equality hasn’t always kept up. NWiTA was created to challenge that—to disrupt the denial, as its founders put it, and elevate the women who are shaping the digital landscape in bold, brilliant ways.

Representation and role models isn’t just important—it’s essential,” says Åsa Johansen, Director of Women in Tech Sweden.

“When we shine a light on women who lead, innovate, and advocate, we open doors for others to follow. Being part of the jury for NWiTA allows us to actively support that vision—and to celebrate the incredible individuals pushing our industry forward.”

Together with our Nordic peers, including Women in Tech Iceland and Women in Tech Norway, we’ll be helping review nominations and select this year’s finalists. It’s an honour, and one we take seriously.

What kind of stories are we celebrating?

There are 11 categories—each one telling a different story of impact, creativity, and leadership. From Developer of the Year to Teen of the Year, from DEIB Champion to Women in Tech Ally, these awards are about more than titles. They’re about people who make a difference.

Whether it’s a founder scaling a startup, a coder solving real-world problems, or a mentor empowering others to rise—we want to hear those stories.

🗓️ Nominations are open until May 18th.

A shared mission

Our ultimate goal is simple, but powerful: to create a tech industry where everyone belongs. That means visibility. That means recognition. And that means celebrating women—and allies—who lead with purpose and passion.

If you know someone making waves in tech, now is the time to lift them up.
