AI, new competency demands and changing roles are in focus as the theme for #WITswe2026 is announced.
We are living in a time of constant movement. For our members, our partners, and the wider tech sector, uncertainty is tangible. No one knows exactly what lies around the corner. New roles are emerging, others are disappearing. Skills that were essential yesterday may no longer be sufficient tomorrow. At the same time, diversity, equity and inclusion are being questioned globally, while artificial intelligence is evolving faster than our structures can adapt.
It is in this landscape that Women in Tech Sweden presents the theme for the #WITswe2026 Conference:
In 2026, we find ourselves in the midst of a shift that feels both exciting and unsettling. The pace of change echoes the early days of the internet era — but with greater speed, complexity, and consequences for individuals, organizations, and society.
Then, as now, we are facing a horizon that is not yet fully visible.
In nature, just as in technology, pressure creates movement. It creates waves, currents, and new patterns. Riding the Tides of Tech is built on this idea: learning how to read change, understand what drives it, and make informed decisions even when the map is not yet complete.
For many in the tech industry, this raises pressing questions:
The rapid development of AI, increasing demands for transformation, and complex systems mean that leadership today is no longer about control, but about interpretation and direction. About knowing which waves to catch, which to let pass — and when it’s time to change course entirely.
Women in Tech Sweden aims to create a space where these questions can be explored openly. Where uncertainty is not seen as failure, but as part of navigating new terrain. And where the future of technology is shaped by more perspectives, more experiences, and more voices.
“This theme is about courage in uncertain times. When pressure increases, we have a choice: to freeze, or to move forward with intention and direction. We want to help people and organizations do the latter,” says Elin Eriksson, Creative Director, Women in Tech Sweden.
At a time when diversity, equity and inclusion efforts are being questioned, Women in Tech Sweden’s partnerships are more important than ever. All event partners for #WITswe2026 have signed a joint agreement stating that DEI is not a side initiative, but a fundamental part of the collaboration.
“By signing this agreement, the partner and the association confirm their commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as an integral part of the collaboration with Women in Tech Sweden. This partnership is both a privilege and a responsibility, contributing to a sustainable tech landscape that is inclusive, equitable, and empowering for all.”
The agreement also reflects a shared responsibility to continuously learn, develop, and turn knowledge into practice — even when it is challenging.
“In times of uncertainty, it can be tempting to step back. Our partners are doing the opposite. They are choosing to stay, stand up, and take responsibility for how technology, skills, and opportunities are shaped going forward. That matters — not just for our members, but for the entire industry,” says Åsa Johansen, Director, Women in Tech Sweden.
Women in Tech Sweden Conference 2026 is supported by a broad coalition of partners across technology, finance, industry, media, energy, and the public sector — reflecting both the uncertainty we face and the shared ambition to navigate forward together.

Women in Tech Sweden is a non-profit organization that began as an event on International Women’s Day in 2014 and has since grown into a national movement with over 30,000 members and close to 40 partners. The organization works to inspire more women to choose — and remain in — careers in technology through networks, role models, and inspiration. This work is carried out through the annual #WITswe conference, as well as other events, podcasts, and newsletters.
