International Volunteer Day – Celebrating Our Amazing Volunteers!

On December 5, we celebrate International Volunteer Day, and here at Women in Tech, we want to send a huge, heartfelt thank you to all our volunteers—both past and present. You are the heart and soul of our organization, making it possible for us to work towards a more equal and inclusive tech industry. 💜

Over the years, we’ve been fortunate to work with so many incredible volunteers. Your time, energy, and passion make a difference in countless ways—from welcoming attendees at events to building our community behind the scenes.

The Team Driving Us Forward Today

Right now, we’re supported by a dedicated group of volunteers who are doing amazing work. Our conference volunteers, in particular, are tirelessly planning and executing events that inspire and empower women in tech. Without you, none of this would be possible! 👏

A special thanks to Ylva Lilja, who’s the volunteer general and helps everything run smoothly (featured in the middle photo at the top!). We wanted to get know her a little bit more and asked her a few questions:

How did your journey with Women in Tech begin?

“I’ve followed Women in Tech for a few years and always felt it’s a fantastic initiative I’d love to contribute to in some way. I work in the industry myself as a Business Area Manager at a software development consultancy, and I’m passionate about making tech even more inclusive. I want to help attract more women—and men—to this incredibly exciting field with endless opportunities.

Åsa and I have known each other since school, so when I reached out and hinted, “please bring me on board,” she welcomed me with open arms. That’s how I had the honor of becoming Volunteer General! 🙏

Wow – Yes – Boom 💥 pretty much sums up how I felt after my first Women in Tech conference!”

What motivates you most about working with our amazing team of volunteers?

“Working alongside an enthusiastic and driven team with a shared goal is a privilege! It’s energizing, educational, and a fantastic way to build new connections and expand your network. I know if I ever needed help with something, someone in our volunteer team would immediately ask, “What can I do to support you?”
