The evening began with Women in Tech Sweden’s Elin Eriksson, who reflected on the importance of networks, inspiration, and role models – three pillars of WIT’s mission.

Christine Runefjärd, HR Specialist at Atea, then shared how the company has evolved into a people-first organization. With over 2,700 employees in Sweden, Atea is the leading provider of IT infrastructure in the Nordics – but their success is built on culture, not code.

“We’re not an IT company,” said Christine. “We’re a people company that happens to work with IT.”

She spoke about Atea’s journey – from creating a shared identity as Sweden’s “national IT team” to building a strong culture grounded in teamwork, inclusion, and purpose.

Tech with real human impact

The audience then heard two powerful stories showing what Building Sweden with IT means in practice:

💙 Terese Rehn and Lena Torlén shared how digital psychiatry in Region Dalarna transformed mental healthcare, reducing ADHD assessment waiting times from three years to one month – proof that technology can create both efficiency and empathy.

💙 Joanna Nordlund and Elvira Widström described how Atea helped Enköping municipality build a smarter, more inclusive data system for schools – giving teachers better insights, saving time, and improving student outcomes.

These stories highlighted a recurring theme: when technology is designed with empathy and collaboration, it empowers people – not replaces them.

Looking forward: inclusion, AI, and sustainable tech

To close the program, Maria Ehrin, Innovation Manager at Atea, shared key findings from their CIO Analytics report. She outlined the major trends shaping the tech landscape: the growing demand for AI expertise, the urgency of cybersecurity, and the need for leadership that combines curiosity with courage.

One insight stood out: while 40% of young women say they want to work in tech, only 6% actually do. Maria emphasized that inclusion and culture – not just technology – will define the future of innovation.
