Introducing VAZ, the innovative Swedish–Cape Verdean producer duo formed by sisters Cecilia and Jenny Vaz, who are reshaping the Nordic music scene with their unique Afro-Nordic Futurism—a distinctive fusion of West African diaspora influences, Nordic melancholy, classical music, and avant-garde beats. Their critically acclaimed debut, NECESSARY (2017), earned dual Swedish Grammy nominations and established them as a compelling live act, opening for artists like Little Dragon and Ibeyi. Beyond music, VAZ are multidisciplinary artists whose exhibitions and performances—including the audiovisual Project Panorama and sold-out dance concert tour ZIRKONEN—have significantly impacted Nordic contemporary art. Committed to inclusivity, they founded initiatives such as Studio XX, supporting over 100 female and non-binary producers across the region, and continue their influential work through their label Kinship Music and audio studio The Nordic Music Burea.
