WIT at TechArena 2025

The TechArena is an event taking place in Stockholm, at Strawberry Arena. This year, some of the poster names were sir Richard Branson, Steven Bartlett, and Tony Hawk.

With it’s four stages and multiple side events, it’s a full time job to create a schedule on beforehand. But still, wherever you turn, insights galore!

On stage, the discussions revolved a lot about politics, warfare, and security. A very clear distinction from last year that were more about climate, space, and innovation. Even though the topics sometimes landed very far from tech itself, I also found it good that we’re seeing our work in tech as holistic. Meaning, tech is a huge part of society nowadays – the things we build are now a part of infrastructure and crucial services. If we don’t see ourselves as part of the society, we’re also partly missing out who we’re building for.

Tech isn’t anymore a separate silo, it’s an foundation.

Some insights will stay with me longer, such as:

:purple_heart: The need of diversity is everywhere: Despite being the previous Finnish prime minister, Sanna Marin, spoke about diversity in politics. She said that she finds it sad that it’s still so rare with young people joining and staying in politics. Probably, we have a lot to learn from each other and work together on, despite different lines of work and industries.

:purple_heart: Enjoying FOMO: With it’s four stages and multiple side events, it’s a full time job to create a schedule on beforehand. And you just have to learn to live with FOMO, the fear of missing out. Even learn to enjoy it a little bit. That meant I had more time to mingle, instead of running inbetween sessions! (That’s also why I love that Women in Techs sessions are recorded, so I don’t even have to have that issue)

:purple_heart: Taking chances: The best time to start something was yesterday. The next best time is today. If you were in need of a pep talk to build your own company, freelance, upskill yourself – it was at the TechArena it happened. Almost every speaker talked about the need of brave people that goes out and changes things for the better. So if you’re looking for a sign – this is it!

:purple_heart: Meeting you. So many Women in Tech members were there and it was so great to get a chat with you.

And soon we meet again, at the Women in Tech on April 23rd!
