About us

Women in Tech Sweden is a non-for-profit community with over 30,000 members and 40 partners. But we’re more than just a community—we’re a family. Our members come from all walks of life, and we’re united by a shared love of technology and a commitment to making the tech industry a more inclusive and welcoming place for everyone. So whether you’re here to learn, to connect, or to make a difference, we’re thrilled to have you on board.

đź’Ş Our mission

At Women in Tech, our mission is simple: to get more women into tech and ensure those already here feel supported and stay. We do this by building strong networks, shining a spotlight on inspiring role models and stories, and creating opportunities across the industry. While we focus on bringing more women into tech, we believe lasting change happens when people of all genders and backgrounds work together.

🌱 How it all began

In 2014, Spotify and MTGx recognized the need to support women in tech and launched the first Women in Tech conference on March 8, International Women’s Day. Held at Hotel Hilton in Stockholm, it featured inspiring speakers like Cristina Stenbeck, Stina Ehrensvärd, Karin Nilsdotter and Rochelle King.

What began as a small afternoon gathering quickly became one of the industry’s most popular events. More companies joined, and the event grew—moving from Hilton to Musikaliska, then the City Conference Center, and from 2020, the Waterfront Congress Center. (Except for that one year, 2021, when we were fully digital and won an award for being the best digital B2C event…). From 300 attendees to 2,700, from an afternoon to a full day plus year-round meetups, Women in Tech keeps growing, evolving, and building community.

From events to influence

Over the past year, we’ve expanded our visibility and impact. We took our message to Almedalen, launched the Women in Tech Förebilder podcast to spotlight inspiring role models, and continued sharing member stories, Member Highlights, and binge-worthy videos through social media and WIT Play. We’ve contributed opinion pieces in collaboration with TechSverige, including one in Dagens Industri and released The State of Women in Tech 2024 report. We also lanuched, the DEI Compass, a tool designed to evaluate and guide your organization’s progress toward creating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace.

Meet the Crew

Our squad is a bunch of passionate folks who live and breathe innovation, fueled by the mission to make the tech scene more inclusive and diverse. We’re hailing from all corners of the industry with backgrounds as varied as the latest coding languages.
